Definition and scope
College rankings are ordered lists of higher education institutions produced by applying weighted numerical scores to a defined set of institutional metrics. The scope varies dramatically by publisher: some rankings assess undergraduate programs at domestic four-year colleges, others evaluate research universities globally, and others focus on a single discipline or degree type.
